In describing the first-century Christians to the Roman emperor Hadrian, the Greek philosopher Aristides said,
“They love one another. They never fail to help widows; they save orphans from those who would hurt them. If they have something they give freely to the man who has nothing; if they see a stranger, they take him home, and are happy, as though he were a real brother. They don’t consider themselves brothers in the usual sense, but brothers instead through the Spirit, in God.”
This quote reminds me of the words of James:
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
in a halftime interview during this past week's monday night football game (the night before the presidential election), chris berman asked both candidates the question, "if you could change one thing in sports, what would it be?" here's a clip of the interview:
mccain just came off as his usual self, a grouchy old man, that is mad at the world.
obama came off as his usual self, a "g", besides his fumbling of words. he basically said what every college football fan in america wanted to hear. it scares me how that guy always has the right thing to say.
anyways, is it just me or does obama sound just like "the rock". i can hear him opening a presidential address with, "DO YOU SMELL-L-L-L-L, WHAT BA-RACK IS COOKING?"
